Function for measuring unusually shaped water tanks added to the E-Trailer app
13 March 2026, Rijswijk – With a new update to the E-Trailer system, users can now take advantage of a new function in the E-Trailer app to adjust the E-Waterlevel sensor to their fresh water tank. In a one-time operation, the sensor is calibrated to the shape of the water tank by regularly filling it with a specific amount of water in several steps. This makes the water level display in the E-Trailer app even more accurate, even for unusually shaped tanks. E-water level sensors that have already been installed can also be adjusted retrospectively using the new calibration function. This function is available from version 2.3.085 of the E-Trailer app.
Previously, the water level display in unusually shaped T-, L- or U-shaped water tanks was still not entirely accurate along the measuring rods of the E-Waterlevel sensor. While customers with evenly shaped water tanks could rely on the sensor’s percentage-accurate display, the actual water levels along the measuring rods differed for unusual tanks. In other words, the litre count of one per cent at the top of the sensor did not correspond to the litre count of one per cent at the bottom. The new calibration function solves this problem. After a one-time calibration, the display is now just as accurate for unusually shaped water tanks as it is for evenly shaped ones.
The update to the E-Trailer app is free of charge. For calibration, customers need to take the time to gradually fill the tank in several small steps, always using the amount of water specified by the E-Trailer app. The app then notes the fill level along the measuring rods for the respective amount of water filled and saves it. After this one-time procedure, the E-Waterlevel sensor is programmed for the respective water tank in which it is installed. This calibration also works for E-Waterlevel sensors that are already installed.
After every winter break, E-Trailer recommends checking the E-Trailer system for new software updates and replacing any weak batteries in the sensors. This year, calibrating the E-Waterlevel Sensor can be another step in the camper’s spring routine.
